A MAN was killed while walking on a country lane in the heart of rural Herefordshire last night, Thursday June 27.
The man, who has not been identified, was in collision with a blue Ford Transit van on an unclassified road between Lower Maescoed and Newton St Margraets around 9pm.
Ambulance crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police closed the road for two hours and diversions were put in place.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone who may have seen the man walking along the road around the time in question is asked to contact PC Adrian Davies at Hereford Police Station on 01432 276422.
