FIRE ripped through the specialist workshop that maintains Hereford Hospital's medical equipment.
The building has been badly damaged by a blaze that broke out just before 3am today (Monday, Jan 20).
The hospital is making 'alternative arrangements' for repairs and expects any disruption to last a day - with no impact on patients.
Fire crews arrived to find the workshop well alight. Breathing apparatus teams were pulled out of the building at the height of the blaze amid fears that oxygen cylinders inside might explode.
Initial investigations indicate the fire being sparked by an electrical fault.
