A COUNTY organisation whose work is simply child's play is in the running for a top award.
Herefordshire Playcare Association, based at Leominster Community Centre, was set up to enrich the lives of the county's children by making sure they have fun things to do.
Contribution
The group, which runs play days in isolated areas and supports groups and childcare workers to foster play activity, has won an Award for Voluntary Endeavour.
HPA is said to have made an "outstanding contribution to the local community" and now goes forward for judging in a national awards heat.
The award scheme has been developed by the Nationwide Building Society with the National Council of Voluntary Organisations and the Newspaper Society, which represents UK local newspapers.
Playcare association manager Julia Stephens said it was "great" that the group, a charity, had been nominated and its hard work was being recognised.
