ST DAVID'S DAY SUPPER -- On Saturday, March 1, in Skenfrith Parish Hall, there will be a St David's Day Supper. It will be just a year since the hall committee started to use outside caterers for village hall suppers and this has been a great success. On St David's Day, hotpot will be on the menu with a vegetarian option, followed by a choice of pudding and coffee. This will cost £6 for adults. Children are half price as the hall committee is subsidising them. Anyone is welcome to come but places must be booked in advance and a booking is a commitment. Mary Jane, who does most of the catering, is very good and extremely flexible and will usually fit an extra one or two people in at the last minute. We cannot, however, accept late cancellations. It has been decided to hold a small auction after the supper, to raise some more money for the Skenfrith Church Bells Fund. The committee hopes that everyone will bring along a small item, say half a dozen eggs, a few potatoes, a cake or a jar of jam. After our harvest supper £350 was raised for the renovation of the bells. It would be good if a similar amount could be raised again. Alan Jones organises the supper club, so anyone interested in coming along should contact him as soon as possible on 01600 750698. Bring your own drinks, but the hall has wine glasses.
