GET HAPPY -- Margaret Morgan and Marian Rowlett, the directors of 'Get Happy' were delighted by the enthusiasm displayed at the first 'signing up' session of 'Get Happy' on February 1. Rehearsals with the young performers are already under way, but there is still time to join in the fun if you're interested in taking part, just telephone 01544 267901 for information. Two rehearsals are planned for the next week or two: on Monday, February 17, for the 'Rappers', who will meet in the Baptist School Room at 7.30 pm; and on Thursday, February 27, when the choir will meet in the Baptist Church at 7.30 pm. Come along and join in!

PRESTEIGNE GARDENING CLUB -- On Monday evening, February 17, Lt Col. I Zvegintzov (Colonel Zog) from Byton will talk about 'Rights of Way and Footpaths' in the area. The club will meet at 7.30 pm in the Memorial Hall.

YOUTH CENTRE -- On Thursday, February 13, there is a 'Dream Catchers' workshop, and on Monday, March 3, a new 'Baby-Sitters' course is starting which will run for six weeks.

STOP THE WAR PROTEST -- Next Saturday, February 15, the world-wide protest to avert military action in Iraq is holding a demonstration march along the Embankment in London at 12 noon. This march will join with another (starting from Gower Street) at Piccadilly Circus, and then proceed together to Hyde Park. FILM FANS -- Presteigne Film Society is showing 'The Son's Room' in the Assembly Rooms on Friday, February 21, at 8pm. Directed by Nanni Moretti, the film explores the tragedy of sudden death erupting into a tranquil family setting. With superb acting and photography, the final scene is 'both ingenious and unexpected. This is an affecting and beautiful film, which has been hailed as Nanni Moretti's best work to date'. The film has a 15 certification and is sub-titled. Admission charge for non-members is £4 (£3 concessions). 'Flicks in the Sticks' is presenting the recent re-make of 'Oceans Eleven', starring George Clooney, in Lingen Village Hall at 7.30 pm on Saturday, February 22.

QUIZ NIGHT -- Come and try your luck at a quiz night in the Memorial Hall on Thursday, February 13. Doors open at 7pm, with the quiz starting at 8pm. There will be bar facilities and a raffle, and the questions will be set by 'Odds and Sods'. Admission is £1 per person, or £4 per team, with a maximum of four people per team.
