WEST Clubs Women's League Premier Division 1 high-flyers Colwall and their visitors Portishead Firebrands had to settle for a share of the points in a fast and furious encounter which failed to produce any goals.

Colwall edged the play in the first period with Dawn Brooks-Bank prompting many attacks and Karen Hackley's cross-cum-shot being flicked wide of the post.

Both teams continued to attack at every opportunity after the break but they were frustrated by some determined defending.

Colwall 2nd edged out visiting Shipton Oliffe 2-1 in Severn Division 1's basement battle, and Ross suffered their second successive reverse when they went down 4-1 at home to Chelten-ham Civil Service.

This defeat took them back into a mid-table spot and dented any promotion hopes.

Hereford 2nd consolidated third position in Severn Division 2 with a 4-2 win over visiting Brockworth.

They started strongly and took an early lead when Jess Lambert flicked home Lisa Ferneyhough's cross

They then increased their score when Claire Hopwood forced the ball home from a goalmouth scramble.

After the break Brockworth lifted their game and scored two goals in quick succession to get back on terms.

Hereford produced a strong finish and took control to clinch victory with a second goal from Chopwood and a strike from Dwyn Jones.

l This Saturday will see a local derby battle in Severn Division 1 with Ross entertaining Col-wall 2nd.
