Pegasus Juniors 1 Carterton Town 1

BUILDING on the confidence of two successive home wins, Pegasus came through a stern examination from second-placed Carterton to earn a valuable point in the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division.

Gavin Stone gave the home team the lead in the latter stages of the first half, which the high-flying visitors cancelled out on the hour.

The home team had to withstand a period of pressure before finishing the stronger in the closing stages and a measure of the progress the team has made recently was shown by the fact that they were disappointed not to take all three points.

The home team attacked from the start to the surprise of the visitors, who had won the home fixture 5-1, and could have taken the lead as early as the sixth minute.

Chances were few and far between but Pegasus, opened the scoring when Del Ewers drew the keeper and squared the ball for Stone to crash home from 12 yards.

The second half followed the same pattern with both teams putting in a lot of effort but defences were generally in charge.

After Stone had gone close to extending the lead, Carterton levelled the score when Matt Threfell beat Matt Taylor with a well-taken goal.
