Malvern Town 0 Wellington 1
WELLINGTON made it nine wins from 12 starts to hold on to the top spot in the Midlands Floodlit Youth League Southern Division with a hard- fought victory at Malvern.
The visitors made a slow start but gradually found their rhythm. Craig Sewell was prominent with several fine runs down the left and a couple of dangerous crosses, and Simon Pitt beat three defenders in a solo run before firing wide.
The decisive goal came in the 35th minute when outstanding central defender Chris Jones moved up to hit the target with a powerful header from a Mark Hole corner.
Malvern tried to get back on terms after the break but were kept out by some sound defending, backed up by good saves from goalkeeper Tom Llew-ellyn.
