'Chinese takeaway' was on the menu at John Kyrle High School as staff and pupils saw in the Chinese New Year.
The feast came as part of a focus on citizenship, which introduces students to different cultures.
Youngsters ate their traditional Chinese meal with chopsticks and they later identified the animal associated with the year in which they were born.
Other citizenship events will include visits from Ugandan teachers, John Kryle teachers visiting the George Green School in London and debates on issues such as a possible war with Iraq, local democracy and the European currency.
