The three-year initiative is a key part of the Government's plans to provide more and improved physical education and sporting opportunities to young people throughout the country.

The School Sport Co-ordinator scheme provides extra finance to support people who will improve the quality of teaching and coaching, together with developing sporting activities.

Herefordshire-based pole-vaulter Irie Hill, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, was in Leominster to launch the scheme when youngsters had the chance to take part in activities.
