ROB Weale - the Herefordshire-based favourite - suffered a surprise defeat to Cynon Valley's Dai Prosser in the Welsh National Singles indoor bowls final at Llanelli.
Weale, representing Islwyn, was bidding for his third Wales title but Prosser triumphed 11-4, 9-7 in his first appearance in the final stages of the championship.
Meanwhile, Weale has reached the third round of the HJ Hall Welsh Masters, which is also being played in Llanelli. He defeated USA's N Furman 8-5, 4-3 this week.
