Bromyard visited Redditch for an important North Midlands One game but came away second best after putting on a poor performance.

REDDITCH 34pts, BROMYARD 19pts

Redditch came out determined although it was Piers Gaunt who kicked Bromyard ahead with a penalty. Poor defence from the Bromyard backs then resulted in two quick scores for Redditch to take a 12-3 lead. The rest of the half was frantic but Redditch indiscipline was punished by Gaunt, who added two more penalties to leave the score at 12-9 at half-time.

After the restart Redditch were again full of imaginative attacks with their centres making large inroads into Bromyard territory and from one of these breaks scored again. Bromyard fought back and Gaun,ts boot was again called upon to reduce arrears. This however was short lived as the strong Redditch wingers managed to score three tries between them to leave Bromyard trailing 34-12 with 10 minutes left.

The young Bromyard forwards played well, especially in the set plays with Will Tomkins and Rob Stephenson to the fore. It was from a Tomkins break that Reg Dixon was able to dummy his way over from 20 metres to make sure Bromyard went home with a consolation try.
