A member of the Local Ministry Team of St Mary's Church in Newent is to travel out to southern India to cement a link between the Gloucester Diocese and two dioceses on the sub-continent.
Gill Hubbard, a ministry team trainee, will begin her 24-hour journey today (Friday) and return in three week's time, on March 7.
Mrs Hubbard will join a delegation from Glouces-ter Diocese, and during her stay will travel widely and visit churches, schools and hospitals.
Newent Rector, the Rev. Robert Simpson, said: "The group will be meeting Indians from Hindu and Muslim communities, as well as Christian backgrounds.
"They have been invited to speak in churches, and other places, to large and small groups. It won't be a holiday."
