THE Relay Team Cham-pionships as part of the Gloucester Counties this year were eagerly anticipated following the excellent performances of Hereford swimmers in the recent 50m sprint events.

The 13/14-year-old boys took double gold with wins in both the medley and freestyle relays. The boys also broke the record to claim a new age group best time in the medley relay with Lee O'Neil, Joshua Haines, Patrick Meggitt and John Pugh clocking 2-05.77.

Hereford also had double county champions in the 11/12-year-old girls, with Jessica Rogers, Amy Ballantyne, Charlotte Tully and Zoe Whitlock swimming to the title in the medley relay and Jessica Rogers, Charlotte Tully, Claire Griffiths and Amy Ballantyne in the freestyle relay.

Senior girls swimming in the ladies open 4 x 100m medley and freestyle relays enjoyed double silver, coming close to snatching the title in the medley relay event through Emma Rogers, Jo Greensmith, Philippa Davies and Mikaela Carey.

The younger swimmers, competing for the first time in the county championships also enjoyed success with Helen Crowther, Lizzie Mason, Laura Hudson and Fran Nunn swimming to a bronze in the medley relay and fourth place in the freestyle relay.

Hereford's 15/16-year-old girls swam well to claim bronze in the medley relay with the team consisting of Emma Rogers, Louise Griffiths, Jo Greensmith and Vicki Frith.
