DAVID James, who has been furthering the cause of umpiring for 30 years, was Herefordshire Cricket Board's choice as the recipient of the annual Rob Staite Memorial Award.

James has officiated throughout county leagues and more recently taken charge of Birmingham League fixtures and county youth cup games.

He is chairman of Herefordshire Cricket Umpires' Association and for the past 10 years has been responsible for the training of umpires in the county.
