Ledbury Town 0 Westfields 1
WESTFIELDS claimed their place in the final of the HFA Challenge Cup for the 12th time in 25 years with a late goal from Scott Jackson in a competitive clash distinguished by excellent performances from both goalkeepers.
An action-packed opening period saw Jon Pugh deny Ledbury's Phil Preedy with a fine one-handed save. At the other end Rory Hollingshead produced a superb point-blank save to thwart Westfields' leading scorer Paul Burton, and then parried away a piledriver from Roy Jordan.
After the break play continued to move swiftly from end to end with Pugh diving to save a powerful low drive from the prolific Robbie Colwell.
Jackson, always in the thick of the action, then threatened to break the deadlock with a couple of excellent attempts on goal. His flick from a Mark Hibbard cross flew inches wide, and then a powerful header rebounded from the legs of Hollingshead.
An overworked Ledbury defence eventually cracked when Jackson latched on to a cross from Jinks to beat the outstanding Hollingshead with a fierce drive.
The drama continued and Westfields, the cup holders, breathed a sigh of relief when Colwell blasted his attempted late equaliser over the top after breaking clear.
