Yate Town 0 Pegasus Juniors 2

DESPITE playing second fiddle in terms of possession and territory, Pegasus netted a goal in each half to record a confidence-boosting win at third-placed Yate in the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division.

After an early chance for Adriano Girolami, it was the home team who took control of the game without posing too many problems for the Pegasus defence, other than bringing one fine save from debutant keeper John Mahoney.

Neil Hotchkiss played Pete Wallace in to open the scoring just before the break.

The Pegasus defence was put under more pressure in the opening stages of the second half but on the hour they struck another vital blow. When the ball came over from Ben Wheeler, Wallace dummied to set up Hotchkiss who doubled the tally.

Yate increased the tempo but a resolute defence, with both Steve Aubrey and Joe Wright in commanding form, stood firm and Wallace went close to adding to the home team's misery with a good effort in the final minute.

Pegasus went into a midweek fixture full of confidence, having taken seven points from their previous three games, but it was short lived as the visitors opened up a two-goal lead in the first 15 minutes.

The home team gradually recovered their composure and could have been level by the break. They created a number of chances but only converted one, when Steve Aubrey was on hand to powerfully head home a free kick from Girolami for his first goal of the season.

Bishops Cleeve regained control after the interval and stretched their lead to 4-1 with goals at either end of the half.
