HEREFORDSHIRE councillors meet next Thursday to discuss a Council Tax rise of around 17 per cent.
The council's ruling cabinet has already warned of a double figure rise but it has now emerged that 17 per cent is the base figure for the council's discussion.
A rise of 17 per cent would increase Herefordshire's element of the bill from £807 to £950 for the average Band D house. The final decision will be taken by full council on March 7.
Meanwhile West Mercia Police authority met on Tuesday and agreed a rise of 12.9 per cent. The average Band D demand will be £119,80, up from £104.50.
Gloucestershire Constabulary set its demand on Monday and opted for a 51.7 per cent increase or an average £142.59, up from £94.01.
