The outcome of a public inquiry into the running of a fireworks business at Pegs Farm, Staplow, could be known on March 24.

An appeal against a legal notice was launched by businessman John Nicholls and heard by a Government inspector at Shire Hall, Hereford, on Tuesday.

Mr Nicholls is bidding to overturn a Herefordshire Council enforcement notice for an alleged breach of planning control.

It alleges that buildings for agricultural use were used in connection with the storage, packaging and distribution of fireworks. The notice requires Mr Nicholls to cease such use.

Mr Nicholls was refused planning permission for a storage magazine for fireworks at Pegs Farm, Hollow Lane, on March 30 last year.
