Ledbury Rotary Club is hoping for great public support this Sunday for its "mobilise a million winter walk".
The event, which will take in around three miles of the Town Trail, will kick off at 2.15pm from the Market House.
Walkers will each be asked to donate £1 to enter, and in return they will get a "I helped to eradicate polio" sticker.
The walk is part of a national campaign to raise £1m in Rotary Service Week, to go towards the global polio eradication programme.
Neil Brambell, the president of Ledbury Rotary Club, said: "We hope to enlist the support of schools, sports clubs, church groups, local organisations, family and friends.
"The polio eradication programme, started by Rotary in 1985, is at a crucial stage. The aim to get rid of polio by 2005 could be threatened by a $275m funding gap.
"Rotary has pledged to raise £3m in Great Britain and Ireland by 2003. I am appealing to our community to help Rotary to meet this challenge."
All funds raised will be matched or surpassed with money from the World Bank, the Gates Foundation and the U-ited Nations Foundation.
