Ledbury put their league woes behind them last weekend with a battling performance that put them through to the final of the HFA Charity Bowl.

Ross UNITED SERVICES 1, LEDBURY TOWN RESERVES 2

Making four changes to last week's team Ledbury began the match stronger than their opponents. They could have taken an early lead when James Dean threaded his way through the defence only to be denied by the Ross keeper.

Ledbury continued to look the better side without creating any clear openings whilst at the back Locke and Loader dealt comfortably with any Ross United attacks.

On the half hour mark Ledbury did finally get a deserved goal when the ever dangerous Jamie James emphatically powered a half volley into the roof of the net for his 13th goal of the season.

In the second half Ledbury maintained their stranglehold on the game and doubled their lead with a rare Matt Ehrlich goal. Jones battled to flick on Griffiths' long throw, the ball dropped to Ehrlich who beat one defender and sent a shot low into the corner of the net.

It seemed Ledbury would now canter home with James going close again and substitute Toman being denied a penalty when he was flattened in the 18-yard box.

As is their way this season, Ledbury struggled to close the game out. From never looking like scoring Ross forced Roberts to head off the line and Smith to save bravely before pulling a goal back with five minutes to go as Ledbury's defence went missing

Thankfully for Ledbury those five minutes passed without further incident and they hung on to take their place in the final.

A fine achievement given that all the sides they defeated on the way to the final were in the division above them last season.

The Reserves are without a fixture tomorrow (Saturday).
