A FUN run and half marathon is to be held in Hereford in aid of St Michael's Hospice on Sunday, May 18.

The half marathon, for professional and amateur runners alike, is professionally organised by the Hereford Couriers and sponsored by Stirling Suzuki. There will be prizes for different categories and all finishers of the half marathon will get an RRC certified time.

As well as the half marathon, there will be a fun run which is just one lap of the racecourse in Hereford. Anyone can join in, young, old, fit and not so fit, so get your granny in training now. The fun run is open to all the family, including our four-legged friends.

Last year the Hospice received sponsorship from Poppy, a springer spaniel, who was sponsored to walk the course.

The first 400 children to finish will receive a commemorative medal, sponsored by the Admag Newspaper.

It will an excellent day out, for runners and their supporters with good spectating points, entertainment from Classic Gold Radio, refreshments and parking at Hereford Leisure Centre.

Walter Brooks, chief executive, is very enthusiastic about the event: "My thanks go to the event organisers and sponsors, it is through such support that this event can take place and be a major fundraiser for St Michael's Hospice. Last year the event raised £8,639.96."

For an entry form for either the fun run or the half marathon, please call Lyn Gummer, St Michael's Hospice, on (01432) 851000.
