CHILDREN in the reception classes at Hereford Cathedral Junior School are to have a magical new 'camouflaged' classroom which blends into its surroundings.
Creating a 'green' space in a sensitive conservation area is the aim as head teacher, Tim Lowe oversees the 'turfed' roof of 'The Moat', the new building for the pre-prep children which will fully open for the summer term.
Standing in the shadow of the Cathedral tower, architects, Jamesons of Hereford produced an innovative design involving camouflaging the building on the south side overlooking Redcliffe Gardens.
The grass roof is the first of its kind in the city and was funded by the Old Herefordian Trust and forms part of an ambitious development programme for both the senior and junior Cathedral schools.
