Lye Town Reserves 2 Leominster Town 1
LEOMINSTER could consider themselves hard done by in a competitive West Midlands League Division 1 South clash as Lye came from behind to grab a late winner.
After creating several good chances, Leominster took the lead midway through the first half when slick passing between Adie Evans, Neil Bennett and Gareth Davies sent Ben Price clear down the right.
On reaching the by-line, he pulled the ball back for Adam Peters to pick out Steve Purnell at the near post. Purnell showed good anticipation to beat his marker and slot the ball home.
The second half was a different story with Lye gradually putting Leominster's defence under increasing pressure. This eventually paid off with Leroy Shaw nipping in between two defenders to head Lye back on terms.
Leominster regained their composure to create a couple of half chances. But, with time running out, the tiring visiting defence failed to challenge Luke Newell who drifted in from the right to beat John Speke with a low drive to claim victory for Lye.
