THE recent dry spell had a detrimental affect on the number of runners at several point to point meetings last weekend, so courses that have watering facilities will reap the benefits in the future.

This Sunday's Ledbury meeting at Maisemore Park falls into this category as can be seen by a record breaking entry of 377. This has resulted in the original six programme being extended to at least 12 races after the division of the Mixed Open and Restricted, while the 5, 6 and 7 year old Maiden and 8 year old and upwards Maidens have both been split three ways.

Tim Stephenson, Julian Pritchard and Adrian Wintle all have good records over this course and with so many entries the best advice is to follow the fortunes of these three jockeys.

Fontaine Again has won his last two races for Castlemorton's Tim Stephenson and he must make his presence felt in Division One of the Mixed Open.

In the Members, Smile Pleeze could run a big race for Stephenson on a course that may not suit him. Cider Man has improved considerably this season and must be the choice if Julian Pritchard is free to ride.

Teme Willow parted company with Adrian Wintle at Siddington last weekend but that race did not take much out of him so he could reappear in Division Two of the Mixed Open. Young Lorcan is undefeated in three outings so far this year and is expected to extend that sequence to four in this event.

First race 11.30am. £10 for car plus one person - £5 for every person thereafter.
