Tributes have been paid to the organiser of Newent Age Concern Day Centre, who retired on Friday after 12 years.
Daphne Waugh was presented with a basket of flowers and a cheque at a special presentation at the day centre, at St Bartholomew's, the Forest of Dean District Council's sheltered accommodation behind the Black Dog pub.
Around fifty people attended, including regular users of the centre and Age Concern committee members.
Anne Warde, secretary of the Newent branch, said: "Daphne was very experienced, having run two day centres in Berkshire on behalf of social services, and her approach was always humorous and friendly."
Around 20 elderly people currently make use of the centre, but there is room for around six more. Attractions include tea, bingo and guest speakers.
A new organiser, Pam Macintyre, has just been appointed. For further details about the centre ring 01452 831752.
