IF timing is everything in football then strike duo John Grant and Steve Guinan could not pick a better time to chalk up their first goals for the Hereford than in tomorrow's clash with Chester.

The pair will be bidding to halt The Blues formidable away record which has seen them notch up three wins and three clean sheets on their travels.

Chester's arrival at Edgar Street will be the first of two stiff tests for Hereford United in the space of four days as they bid to cement their place in the Nationwide Conference top six.

Yeovil Town visit on Tuesday but the buoyant Bulls will be keen to maintain the momentum generated by wins at Nuneaton and Woking on Monday.

Hereford boss Graham Turner remains untroubled by Guinan and Grant's failure to find the target and has praised the pair's all round play which has helped the likes of Matt Clarke get goals.

"The strikers have worked very hard and created chances for others," he said.

"Goals will come their way but as long as goals come from other areas I don't mind who scores."

Michael Rose (hip) is the only injury doubt for Turner who has been pleased with the way his side have recovered from their defeat at Gravesend.

"We had some decent performances against Nuneaton and Woking and Chester and Yeovil will be a test of how far we have improved," he said.

"Chester have got a very good away record and haven't conceded a goal while Yeovil look a very competent side."

Wright has invested heavily in the Deva Stadium club and brought in a host of experienced players since taking over last season and has reversed the club's fortunes.

Turner is not unduly surprised to see The Blues occupying one of the Conference top spots.

"They've invested heavily with some vastly experienced players and having a big squad helps.

"I expected them to be up their in contention with the likes of Doncaster and thought one of the ex-Football League clubs to be involved.

"I'm not ruling out Yeovil but many of the ex-league clubs have invested in players."

Turner, however, does not admit to even the slightest tinge of envy at the cash available to clubs like Chester.

"We've been moving along very nicely, we've got a group of players that all want to learn and improve and are a pleasure to work with."

Chester will be without striker Dave Cameron, who is suspended, while defender Phil Bolland could return after missing the start of the season with a hairline fracture.

Steve Harkness and Ben Davies will have fitness tests.

Formcast: Hereford to dent Blues away record 2-1.
