IT was back to earth with a bump for Hereford United over the Bank Holiday weekend after two disappointing defeats to Gravesend and Morecambe.

Were the opening two games a false dawn or is it just a hiccup for Graham Turner's young side?

Sloppy goals certainly cost the Bulls any share of the match at Gravesend and Turner summed up as embarrassing the mistake by Matt Baker for the third goal and Scott Voice's glaring miss.

However on a positive note Bulls' fans will have been pleased to see Voice make two consecutive appearances after his injury problems.

A better performance followed against the Lancashire side but Turner admitted the final ball was missing despite a goal from Jamie Pitman.

Sky's decision to show Hereford's match at Woking on Monday, September 9, means they will have a nine-day rest between games.

Hereford have rearranged their Northwich Victoria match at Edgar Street for Tuesday, October 15, (7.45).

Meanwhile United face the prospect of several local derbies after being placed in the southern section of the LDV Vans Trophy.

The Bulls could line up against Bristol City, Cardiff City, Cheltenham Town, Swindon Town, Kidderminster Harriers or Swansea City.

Joining the Bulls from the Nationwide Conference are Chester City, Dagenham & Redbridge, Stevenage Borough, Woking and Yeovil Town. The first round draw is on September 21.

Hereford holds its annual shareholders' meeting on Monday, September 23 at 5pm in the Legends Bar.
