HEREFORD United have taken their tally of summer signings to five by recruiting three more players on free transfers.

Director of Football Graham Turner has snapped up Andy Tretton, a 26-year-old central defender previously with Shrewsbury Town, ex-Crewe Alexandra striker John Grant, aged 20, and 19-year-old former Chester City left-back Michael Rose.

Their arrival takes the size of United's squad up to 11, and Turner still hopes to sign six or seven more players before the start of the Nationwide Conference season on August 17.

Turner said: "Tretton has played over 100 games for Shrewsbury and it gives me the option of playing three central defenders.

"Grant is very mobile and very quick, while Rose started 38 games for Chester last season, and is very skilful."
