We have had a good season to date and we recognise the fact that it has tailed off a little bit in recent weeks.

But we have three home games to come starting with Weymouth on Saturday, and we are still going to try our hardest to get second spot -- and we need the full backing of our fans to help us achieve that.

We recognise the fact that we have young players in and the ones that have come back from long-term injuries are clearly not match fit.

But let's not start sticking the knife in - let's help them through the remaining games at home.

I can sense the frustration and disappointment from some people, and that's the case in the dressing room too.

Confidence isn't at its highest because of what we've gone through, but most of us need a little bit of help along the way and hopefully the fans can provide that in the remaining games.

If you look at our goals scored column, while it is not the best in the league it is not that bad.

But we scored six against Folkestone, five against Chelmsford and four at Hastings, and if you take that away it highlights the problems we have had.

We haven't created enough chances and we haven't finished sides off as a result of that.

We didn't deserve anything against Tiverton or at Bath, but other than that we can probably say we merited taking something out of all our other games.

One good thing to emerge from the weekend was the return from injury of David Foy.

He has had a good half-dozen training sessions, and with it being a case of needs must we thought we would have a go with him at Havant.

Ironically he then picked up a groin strain which prevented him playing the other night!

If you take your mind back to the start of the season, we had David, Pat Lyons, John Snape and Michael Blackwood across the midfield and we thought what a big improvement it was in that area.

We have improved still further with the addition of Adam Wilde in place of Blackwood, but the others have been taken away from us. That is the situation we have been trying to patch up and we haven't been able to patch it up for most of the season.

Adam Webster continued his run of scoring form against Halesowen on Monday night. There is no doubt he has had a few knockers along the way, but he has responded and I thought his goal was an excellent one. He has deserved his recent good form.

For me Halesowen deserved something out of the game. They had more quality on the pitch, and every member of their midfield was playing in the Football League not long ago, and we had the whole of our engine room out of action.

But I can't fault our players for honest endeavour, application and having a go at it.

I think we deserved to get something from the game at Havant on Saturday, and you can make a case from the chances that we had to have perhaps taken all three.

It is a fact that there has been no end of managers from other clubs who have made contact this season, who have said they are glad they haven't been in our situation when it comes to injuries.

Weymouth on Saturday will be similar to the Halesowen game.

It's not the same team that has put them in the position they are in, and they are having a go at trying to get out of trouble.
