After nine straight wins, Ledbury have now lost two games on the trot.

LEDBURY TOWN 0, HEATH HAYES 1

Town turned in their worst performance of the season with a lacklustre display.

Still without leading scorer Robbie Colwell, they lacked penetration and Duncan Preedy was left on his own up front on too many occasions.

With only three in midfield Ledbury found it hard to carve out any real openings. With three central defenders either the full backs must support the midfield or one of the defenders should have pushed up.

Ledbury had a couple of chances

in the first half, one when the goalkeeper's kick went straight to Duncan Preedy. He managed to round the keeper but couldn't control the ball which allowed the keeper to get back and block his effort.

The only other reasonable chance Ledbury had was from a corner when Stu Hall's free header rebounded off the keeper's knees.

Ledbury tried to up the pace in the second half and Duncan Preedy's 20 yard shot went the wrong side of the post. Five minutes later Phil Preedy went past two defenders but blasted wide.

Heath Hayes were growing in confidence and when Ledbury did get any crosses in they all fell on stony ground.

The inevitable happened when, deep into injury time, Heath Hayes were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and Adam Beardsley chipped the wall to send the visitors home with three deserved points.

With three away games next month Ledbury will need to pick up their performances.

This Saturday Ledbury travel to Walsall Wood, kick off 2.45pm, and on Tuesday visit Heath Hayes, kick off 7.45pm.
