Ledbury Town moved up to third place in the West Midlands Premier Division table with their eighth straight win but they were knocked back on their heels by going 2-0 down in the first eight minutes with goals from Richard Jones and Neil Sullivan.

LEDBURY TOWN 5, GORNAL ATHLETIC 2

Ledbury obviously missed the influence of Mark Brooks in midfield and it took them time to readjust, but once they got going they found Shaun Healey in inspired form in the Gornal goal.

The game exploded with three dismissals following a free for all on the halfway line. First Ian Dawes and Dave Bate were shown the red card for Gornal then Lee Clueit was shown the red card for Ledbury but as Clueit walked from the pitch the referee called him back and then dismissed Duncan Preedy.

The second half started off on a quieter note and Ledbury made good use of the extra man by scoring five superb goals.

On the hour Rob Colwell rose majestically to head home Ian Stewart's cross. Phil Preedy made it two, skipping past defenders before unleashing a stunning left foot drive from 20 yards. Ex-Malvern Town striker Robbie Perrins then controlled the ball on his chest and fired home a great volley from 12 yards.

Ledbury continued to dominate and Robbie Colwell's sheer persistence made it four by going through tackle after tackle before firing home a low drive past Healey.

Phil Preedy soon made it 5-2 when going on a mazy run, leaving five defenders in his wake, before beating the bemused Healey.

Ledbury have now scored 38 league and cup goals this season with Robbie Colwell, Duncan and Phil Preedy scoring 34 between them.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury Town are at home to Leominster Town in the HFA Senior Cup, kick off is at 2pm.
