Ledbury 20 pts Nuneaton OE 10

LEDBURY have finished a creditable third place in Midlands 3 West (South) after beating the league champions in their final match of the season.

As anticipated, the opening exchanges were hard fought but Ledbury took a slender 6-0 lead thanks to two penalties from Barrett Price.

The visitors fought back, reducing arrears with a penalty, before Ledbury gained the upper hand after some fine work from the forwards.

The previous week's man of the match Chris Lewins left Collins needing treatment after he accidently struck the scrum-half on the nose with a discarded water bottle.

Despite some hard graft from the returning William Delamore, Ledbury had to wait until the closing minute of the first half before they extended their advantage.

Dave Pickering seized upon a misplaced kick which resulted in winger Ollie Kaye crossing for his 10th try of the season to put Ledbury 13-3 ahead.

The visitors pressed at the start of the second period and, despite dogged Ledbury defending, Nuneaton crossed for a converted try on 65 minutes.

Ledbury responded positively, however, when second-row replacement Kes Wilkinson broke from a maul and burst through the visiting defence to score.
