Ledbury is to celebrate the best of English food and drink, culture and music with a new and exciting festival.

The Ledbury English Festival, which begins on April 23 with a grand parade through the town's streets, will continue its celebrations until April 27 with choral singing, poetry and contemporary music spread across the five day period.

The celebrations will culminate with a 'festival street spectacular' running from 12pm to 6pm on April 27 when Morris men and street theatre will take to Ledbury's streets. There will be a host of other activities to keep the festival goers entertained including a display of vintage English transport, and Wye Valley Brewery will be there to quench thirsts with their range of fine beers.

Event organiser Andy Ward said: "We have brought together many local groups and societies to make a true community effort to give Ledbury people a new experience. The Ledbury English festival is the pilot for many more years to come."

Because of the festival, the police will be temporarily closing Ledbury High Street at 7pm on April 23 to allow for the parade and also closing various streets through the town centre on Sunday, April 27.
