Hereford United 1 Wellington 1 aet (Wellington win 4-2 on pens)
WELLINGTON booked their place in the final of the HFA Giantkillers Under-18 Youth Cup on penalties after an end-to-end local derby at Edgar Street.
The villagers were on top for most of the first half and Ross McMillan twice went close to breaking the deadlock, while Sam Lloyd's point-blank header was well saved by Hereford goalkeeper Adam Ding.
United started the second half in a spirited manner, with Adam Kite and Dean Jordan missing clear-cut chances before they took the lead on 65 minutes with a scorching 35-yard strike from Kite. But Wellington hit back five minutes later, drawing level when Rob Parsons tapped the ball in from close range.
Parsons struck a post towards the end of normal time, while Wellington's Danny Amies rattled the bar in extra time and Hereford's James Wood headed wide when well placed.
In the penalty shoot-out, Wellington converted four spot-kicks but United failed twice, which included a good save from the villagers' substitute goalkeeper Bryn Watkins.
