Smethwick Sikh Temple 1 Kington Town 3

KINGTON stretched their unbeaten run in West Midlands League Premier Division league and cup games to 24 matches and kept up their challenge to leaders Westfields with a hard-working away performance.

Smethwick started brightly and Kington were on the back foot with Carl Rose keeping them on terms with a series of fine saves in the opening quarter.

In the space of 15 minutes Kington killed off the game and any threat from the opposition with three fine strikes.

In-form Danny Hill claimed the first after good work down the right by Ben Chambers and a neat lay-off by Mark Davis, Hill finishing with a crisp drive from 12 yards.

The big strikers, Davis and Hill, were linking well and causing all sorts of problems for the home defence. They set up the second goal for Alex Hunt, and then combined for a third.

Chambers measured another cross to Hill at the far post and his header back across the goalmouth was met by Davis who bravely swooped to head in at the foot of the upright.

The visitors relaxed after the interval and although Smethwick tried to get back into the game they could only come up with a late consolation goal.

Wolverhampton Utd 1 Kington Town 4

Previously Kington had completed a Premier Division double over Wolverhampton United when they came back strongly to hit the target four times after conceding an early goal.

Goalkeeper Rose fumbled a Wolves shot into the path of the home striker and he gratefully slotted home the opening goal.

Hill pulled Kington level after a dazzling solo run, and the visitors' task was eased when a home player was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident.

Within minutes of the restart a great strike from Chris King put Kington ahead, and he almost immediately extended the visitors' lead with a penalty after Ben Wheeler was upended in the box.

Davis completed the scoring as Kington kept in the hunt for honours.
