Pegasus Juniors 2 Henley Town 0
PEGASUS struck in each half to avenge an away defeat earlier in the season in the Premier Division of the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League.
New signings Ian Rodgerson, the former Hereford United midfielder, and Terry Green were instrumental in Pegasus' victory.
The Hereford club took the lead in the eighth minute when the quick- thinking Rodgerson found Laurence Helme in space on the left and he crossed to the far post where Neal Hotchkiss headed the ball in.
Pegasus were buoyed by the early strike and would have increased their advantage before the break had it not been for some rugged and resolute defending by the visiting defence.
The home side were denied when Pete Wallace's powerful header was superbly palmed away by Henley goalkeeper Stuart Gosby and Green sent a reaction header past an upright.
Pegasus doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark when a fine flowing move involving Rodger-son, Hotchkiss, Darren Jones and Wallace was finished with an excellent close-range header from Gavin Stone.
The visitors almost pulled a goal back when Richard Witt headed wide, while Pegasus' goalkeeper Matt Taylor made a fine reaction save to thwart Danny Isaiew.
It was an important win for Pegasus who suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Yate Town in midweek.
