AYLESTONE School have secured a place in the Coca-Cola ESFA Midlands Under-13 Schools Cup final at Villa Park in May.
The Hereford school produced a sparkling display to record an excellent 3-1 win over Thomas Telford School in the Midlands region semi-final at Wellington.
An early goal from Darren Andrews paved the way for Aylestone's semi-final success, while Tom Cartwright, James Upcott and Stephen Smith created numerous chances for the West Midlands champions.
Ashley Preece doubled Aylestone's lead after delightful work by Upcott, while goalkeeper Dan Hill pulled off a vital save just before the break.
Aylestone sealed their place in the last eight of the national competition with a third goal when a visiting defender knocked the ball into his own net after Preece's chip had rebounded off the crossbar. But the Telford school rallied late on, reducing the deficit after a goalmouth scramble.
Aylestone now face Grantham-based Central Technology College at Aston Villa's headquarters on May 8 and a victory would allow them progress to Anfield to meet the winners from the three other regions.
