ROSS-ON-WYE'S Marine Conservation Society has been awarded £36,800 to help groups 'adopt a beach'.
The grant from Defra is to train people to carry out beach litter surveys, clean beaches and carry out research.
Litter projects co-ordinator for the national charity, Alison Conway, said: "We are striving to reach local and national groups and teach them how to conduct beach litter surveys and raise awareness of the damage litter causes. People from all over the country have the opportunity to adopt and care for their favourite stretch of coast."
