MARCHES Housing Association has begun work on site for a new housing development in Leominster. Work has begun at Bridge Street, around half a mile from the town centre.
The new scheme, which spans the road with one existing property being refurbished on one side of the road and three new homes on the other, will provide four new affordable rented homes one of which will provide facilities for wheelchair users. The scheme has been funded in part by a grant from The Herefordshire Council.
"This is a small scheme that meets the requirements of the Herefordshire Unitary Development Plan, enhancing the entry to the town and providing much needed affordable rented accommodation," says Marches Managing Director David Hinchliffe. "There is very little accommodation in Leominster that is suitable for wheelchair users and the three bedroom home we are building at Bridge Street, to meet such standards will be a useful addition to our housing stock, now and in the future."
Contractor partners on the scheme are Harpers of Leominster and David Taylor is the architect for the scheme.
