The Ledbury in Bloom litter blitz on Saturday is being hailed as a great success by organisers.

A campaign stand at the Market House attracted a lot of attention, with several more people signing up as volunteers.

Ledbury is the defending champion for the small towns' regional category and is representing the Heart of England region in the national contest this year.

A total of 20 litter pickers turned up on the day and tackled a wide area, from the town centre to along the Worcester Road and down to the bypass.

Ledbury in Bloom committee member Chris Clarke said: "It went very well. A number of visitors came up to us and said what a nice and tidy place Ledbury was, and we said, here's why."

A bag count for the litter collected wasn't possible, because helpers were asked to take the bags home, or to the waste site, off Little Marcle Road.
