MADAM, I could not resist responding to Neil Thompson's letter (Hereford Times May 8).
I have recently returned to this magnificent part of the world after many years in the South East and visit Hereford regularly.
It is obvious there is a great need for some action as well as grandiose ideas. Let us all hope at least one of those people charged with making the decisions for its future has some common sense. Even better, more than one.
For instance, will they consult and involve organisations for the disabled on all elements of safety and access?
The uneven paving is just one hazard, another which needs to be addressed is kerb stones. Having no clear definition those outside Boots on both sides of the road are positively dangerous for people with visual impairment.
The planning committee needs to listen to everyone, these are fundamental issues.
Hereford is an important city and it should receive the best possible attention to make it the stunning centre it ought to be. Compared with many other towns and cities it looks very very tired.
Moving on, I agree the constant noise of the sirens is disturbing but I also think that the hospital building itself is a blot on the Hereford skyline.
