THE 'Flaming June' meeting under BHRC rules at the picturesque Allens-more lakeside track attracted the largest crowd of the year and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement during 10-action-packed races.

Kim Allman is a patient trainer and her thorough rehabilitation of I Am The Man (Sara Mould) was justly rewarded when he fought to head Francois Foin (Ivor Stokle) in the first open race.

Later a glorious Gladestry double was recorded when Nigel Pinches' Young Dennis electrified the crowd with his victory in the Vintage Mile with Gareth Price. The headstrong 'Dennis' is clearly back to his best, and Nigel was quick to attribute much of this to Kim's assistance.

The ladies continued their domination with a third victory in as many weeks for Blackmail and Joanne Taff, and then a delighted Emma Frieze piloted her own game Briwyn's Sixty Seven to a maiden win on her debut run.

Wiltshire farrier Tim Haines and his own Tim's Scooter sprang a 20/1 surprise when taking command and repelling all challengers in the second division

Yarkhill woman Sue Young has only recently recovered from a bout of pneumonia, but she enjoyed the best of tonics when she partnered her own Thornton Big Chill to an all-the-way win ahead of the gallant Symlog Strawberry (Patrick Morris) in the novice event.

Biotal Equine, who specialise in probiotics, have only recently become involved in harness racing, and were rewarded with a magnificent double from Biotal Beth (Richard Owens) and Biotal Scoot (Libby Lloyd). Biotal Scoot, making his seasonal debut, looks set to follow in the hoofprints of his fabulous half-brother, Fearless JR.

Julian Price belies his eighteen years with his cool maturity on the sulky seat, and produced the small but brave Fold Flight to prevail in a three-way photo with Radnor Beauty (Mark Pritchard) and Cole's Decision (Jason Podmore) on his 'gallop through the grades'.

The cream of the superb racing day was the first of The Biotal series of top class Free For Alls.

Seven of the best horses in the region went to post and, turning for home, all of them were poised to challenge front-running Shadow Dancer. As the gladiators charged, the imposing Free Contender and Colin Bevan hurtled through the gap to be a nostril ahead of Shadow Dancer and Nite'n'gale at the wire.

Next meeting: Walton at Evenjobb, Thursday, June 12, 5 pm.
