FOUR drivers from Washington, USA will be harness racing on grass for the first time next week in a return match against Wales & West reinsmen at the Leominster circuit.
Scott Leaf, Ken Weckstein, Mike Ternisky and Walt McManus will be representing the Capitol Area Amateur Drivers Association, based in Maryland, in the international match race at the Leominster evening meeting on Thursday, June 12.
"We're really excited about being invited to the UK," said Ken Weckstein, a celebrated attorney and experienced amateur reinsman. "None of us has even seen harness racing in your country, and racing on grass is something we don't have in America."
The international race is part of a competitive card starting at 5pm at The Wharf, Leominster for the first evening meeting of the season, and it will be followed by live music and entertainment in the bar.
