DIG out those flares, kinky boots, mini-skirts and Afghan coats, because this Saturday sees Kington Festival kicking off with a wonderful festival of flower power.
The town's main streets will be closed to traffic and shopkeepers will dress their windows (and themselves!) in tune with the sixties theme. Take a ride on the Tonka train and enjoy the stalls, street entertainment and exhibitions - not forgetting the Ms Kington contest which will be judged at 3pm.
A complementary medicine event is being hosted by The Burton Hotel as part of 'Kington Past Day', where visitors will be able to enjoy a free consultation with expert practitioners of reflexology, shiatsu, aromatherapy, Indian head massage and homeopathy.
The festival marks the beginning of two weeks of events culminating in a carnival procession and ceilidh on June 21. Programmes available from main TICs or at www.kingtonfestival.co.uk. Lots of the events are free and well worth checking out.
