NATURAL HEALTH CENTRE -- On the first Saturday in every month Presteigne Natural Health Centre, at The Old Surgery in St David's Street, holds a 'drop-in' clinic, which offers free advice on a range of treatments. The next clinic is on Saturday, June 7, from 10.00 am to mid-day, when the therapist on duty will be Adrian Stott, who is a remedial masseur. Adrian has worked at the Centre since it first opened, over seven years ago, and can advise on which type of treatment might be best for your particular problem. There are currently seven therapists working from the centre, practising acupuncture, Bowen technique, reflexology, homeopathy, massage, reiki therapy, osteopathy and shiatsu.

DAY CENTRE -- The East Radnorshire Day Centre is holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday, June 10, at 7pm. AGM papers will be available for inspection from 6.30 pm onwards. Everyone is welcome to attend, and drinks will be served after the meeting has closed. The day centre would also like to thank everyone who has participated in raising funds for the purchase of the new bath. The bath is now in place, and being used very regularly. The centre staff would especially like to thank Chris Pritchard and his family, staff at HSBC, Lloyds TSB Foundation and Knighton Hospital League of Friends - and to all those who donated their time and money.

FUN DAY -- Churches Together in Presteigne are inviting everybody to a Whitsuntide Fun Day on Sunday, June 8, at 3.00 pm in Wentes Meadow. There will be refreshments, music, singing, a bouncy castle, competitions - for children and adults - and also displays by the churches and information gathering. A barbecue at 4.30 pm will be followed by Pentecost Praise at 6pm; entrance is free and everyone is welcome.

ASSEMBLY ROOMS -- Irish music returns to Presteigne on Tuesday, June 10, when the celebrated group 'Danu' perform in the Assembly Rooms. Up to five of their seven members play melody - on piano and button accordions, fiddle, flute and uilleann pipes - the tunes are a riot of closely worked colour and harmony, powerfully underpinned by guitar, bouzouki, and the phenomenal bodhran playing of piper Donnchadh Gough. 'Danu' arrives covered with awards... 'The Best Overall Traditional Act 1999' at the Irish Music Magazine awards, 'Best Live Act 2000' in December by the Irish Music Magazine , in the company of Mary Black, The Chieftains and Altan, and the BBC 'Best Band' award in 2001.
