DURING the first week in June as part of National Volunteers' Week, The National Trust will be celebrating the hard work done by its volunteers, with lots of opportunities to get involved in various projects at property and countryside sites across Herefordshire and nation-wide.
You can tell the history of Croft Castle, near Leominster, as a volunteer room steward or education guide. There are also opportunities to monitor the riverbanks as a volunteer hydrologist at the Weir Garden, near Hereford, become a room steward at Berrington Hall, near Leominster, or work as a house steward at the magnificent moated manor house, Lower Brockhampton, near Bringsty.
Help out
You can become a volunteer for a week on a National Trust Working Holiday and help to restore the stone access trail at the woodland walk area on the Brockhampton Estate. From July 12 to 19, volunteers can relay stone, replace and repair edging boards and fit new benches around the trail.
For general volunteering enquiries, contact The National Trust's Volunteering Team on 0870 6095383 or log on to www.nationaltrust.org.uk/volunteering. National Volunteers' Week is organised by the National Centre for Volunteering, for more information log on to www.volunteersweek.org.uk.
