THE new Mayor of Presteigne is Councillor Peggy Fraser-Scott, who has served on the town council for the past four years.
She is pictured receiving the chain of office from outgoing mayor Councillor John Wilding.
Cllr Fraser-Scott said: "My appointment as Mayor of Presteigne and Norton is not only an honour for me, it is also a delight and makes me feel very humble.
"I have been here since the mid-1980s and really enjoy the place, the people and the beautiful countryside."
Among her aims for the next 12 months are seeing through the improvements to the 'Old School' in Hereford Street and brightening up the town with more flowers and less rubbish.
