COUNTY film buffs can say goodbye to blurry pictures and bad sound and hire their favourite blockbuster on DVD thanks to Herefordshire Council Libraries.

A range of films is available in state of the art DVD format, from classics such as 'Dr Strangelove' and foreign titles such as 'La Dolce Vita' to modern hits 'Harry Potter' and 'Ice Age'.

DVDs cost the same as renting traditional tapes - £2 a week for adult films and £1 for children's films.

Jeremy Alder, Herefordshire Council's libraries operations manager, said: "This new service will help the libraries attract a different group of customers and is a fantastic new development in the library service for this county."

"Our DVD collection aims to cater for all age groups and popular titles will include 'Die Another Day', 'Gladiator', 'Star Wars' and 'Lord of the Rings'."
