THIEVES ransacked a house in Grafton stealing clothes, electrical equipment and Woody, a three-month-old pedigree puppy.

Thursday's daylight burglary, in full view of the A49, was the second time in a month Karen and Paul Macklin have been burgled. The first time they lost a few clothes from the porch. This time thieves were more thorough.

Karen said: "I came back from shopping in Hereford at about 3pm and found the back door open and the TV, video and DVD gone.

"There was dog mess all over the place. Woody must have been terrified. I didn't know at first if he was dead or had been stolen."

The cocker spaniel puppy, valued at £750, was a christening present for their 17-month-old son Harri.

After alerting the Police, Karen waited for her husband to arrive before entering the house. The couple found bedrooms ransacked, drawers emptied on the floor and many of their clothes stolen.

Karen said: "I can see thieves would take electrical goods. It is not right but I can understand it. But that they should take Harri's puppy I just can't forgive."

And like many people who suffered the intrusion of burglars entering their home, Karen and Paul now plan to sell up and move as soon as possible.

Karen said: "It is really difficult knowing people have been in your house, going through your personal possessions.

"I feel as if they have kicked me in the stomach."

l A pet rabbit was stolen from a house in Sellack in the early hours of Sunday morning. Thieves entered the home and opened cages holding a number of animals, including rabbits and guinea pigs. Only a rabbit was found to be missing in the morning.

Anyone with knowledge of either incident should call Hereford Police on 08457 444888.
